The Toronto Sleep Fellowship’s - Home Sleep Apnea Testing for Dentists is a 6 hour course designed for dentists looking to expand their role as a primary care provider in the diagnosis of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
This course exposes participants to Dental Sleep Medicine and all aspects of the Home Sleep Apnea Test (HSAT) and will include the opportunity to gain clinical hands on experience with the ApneaLink Air HSAT device.
Dentists are encouraged to bring team members, who upon successful completion of this course, can assist in deploying a HSAT as per a Dentist’s orders.
OSA is a major public health crisis. The prevalence of OSA and its associated risk for pulmonary hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and motor vehicle accidents have resulted in increased demand for testing and treatment.
There is a considerable body of literature confirming the validity of unattended Home Sleep Apnea Testing as a diagnostic option for suspected OSA’S in patients without other sleep or medical co-morbidities.
Dental Sleep Medicine is a rapidly growing focus for dental professionals. The Toronto Sleep Fellowship connects dentists with Ontario Sleep Labs and their Sleep Physicians. Dentists now have a unique role, not only in being a primary care provider for mild to moderate cases of OSA, but also in the diagnosis of OSA in adults. Don’t miss this opportunity for your entire team to learn how to incorporate this invaluable tool into your practice.
Our goal is for every participant to be trained to immediately begin deploying Home Sleep Apnea Tests in their practice.
This course meets and exceeds the Educational Requirements & Professional Responsibilities for Home Sleep Apnea Testing by Dentists. Upon completion, you will receive a Certificate of Training from the Toronto Sleep Fellowship.
